WILLIAMSBURG — Brass Cannon Brewing, a craft beer micro-brewery and tap room located at 5476 Mooretown Road, announced it will be winding down its operations starting on Aug. 1.

The last fully operational day for the business is expected to be no later than Oct. 1.

“Brass Cannon Management and Staff would like to thank everyone who made our dream of making and serving great beer a reality and who helped us along the way but, our battle is over,” the brewery said in a press release. “We put up a fight for more than 10 years. We invested in new brew gear and built a new facility. We made great, uncompromising beer. We survived the COVID.”

The business says patrons can expect the Cannon Tap Room to operate “quasi-normally through August and more sporadically through September.” Brass Cannon staff will be updating its hours regularly on its official website.

“[W]e find ourselves now in an over-saturated market rushing to the bottom and in an inflationary economy with the resultant rising interest rates and, we are not willing to reduce quality, cut cost corners or raise prices,” the brewery said.

As the brewery operates through this transition stage, it will be cleaning and packaging gear and equipment for sale. Anyone interested in brew equipment, accessories, or furnishings is asked to contact Phil Norfolk at phil@brasscannonbrewing.com.

“Again, we can’t thank everyone enough for the ride! We leave the craft beer business with a song in our hearts, having loved the experience,” the release states.
