PARIS, Jan 14 (Reuters) - EDF will proceed by the end of January with the rereading of control documents of the French nuclear fleet in order to determine if the problems of corrosion detected on five reactors can concern others, said Friday the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN).This work will then allow the group to establish a verification program that may require unscheduled shutdowns of reactors, also told Reuters Julien Collet, deputy director general of ASN.EDF announced Thursday that a reactor at the Penly power plant (Seine-Maritime) was affected by a corrosion problem on a safety system already detected or suspected on four other reactors currently shut down. This problem led the group to extend the shutdown period of the five reactors and to lower its nuclear production estimate for 2022 to 300-330 terawatt-hours (TWh), against 330-360 TWh."EDF has started the re-reading of all the controls that were carried out during the ten-year visits (periodic reviews, editor's note) on all the reactors in the fleet", indicated Julien Collet.“This work will be used to establish a control strategy for the other reactors (..), it will be carried out by the end of January”, specified the deputy director general of the ASN."There will most certainly be checks to be carried out in the coming months. (Some) may be carried out during normal outages - reactors will carry out ten-year inspections and obviously these will be subject to specific checks. The question that 'we will have to look through the control program, it is the need to have to carry out early shutdowns or out of schedule.Contrary to what the group had done for its four 1,450 megawatt (MW) reactors, EDF did not decide to shut down the eleven other 1,300 MW units in the French fleet of the same model as that of Penly on which problems of corrosion were detected.According to ASN, this decision is explained by the fact that the group had indications for its 1,450 MW reactors suggesting that the corrosion problem concerned them all.The low availability of the nuclear fleet is weakening the security of electricity supply in France this winter and comes as the government has decided to put the group to work to limit the increase in regulated electricity tariffs (TRV) to 4% on February 1.Friday, at the start of the session, the EDF share fell by more than 20%.(Report Benjamin Mallet, written by Myriam Rivet, edited by Nicolas Delame and Blandine Hénault)EDF shares fall, the effort required of the electrician will cost him dearly in 2022 |Dow JonesEDF is continuing checks on its reactors, other possible shutdowns -ASN |Dow JonesEDF-Other reactor outages for checks are possible-ASN |REUTERSEDF-Checks in progress on the nuclear fleet, other reactor shutdowns possible-ASN |REUTERSEuropean stocks in the red, EDF plunges, SAP shines |REUTERSEDF falls, the difficulties accumulate, a recapitalization mentioned |REUTERSNEOEN: Neoen wins a new call for tenders in FinlandMETHANOR: METHANOR A financial roleVOLTALIA: VOLTALIA The wind of BrazilNEOEN: NEOEN Solar, wind and... storageALBIOMA: ALBIOMA The electrician for sugar bowlsOBIZ: Obiz in negotiations to buy AdelyaUPERGY: Upergy promises a sharply rising margin, enough?ESKER: What if the Esker success story had a little slack?EURAZEO: The Eurazeo advantage in the face of inflationSOPRA STERIA GROUP: Sopra Steria changes CEO and revises its results upwardsWall Street weighed down by banksSMCP: Representatives of the Chinese group Shandong Ruyi dismissed from the SMCP board of directorsSMCP: SMCP-Representatives of the Chinese group Shandong Ruyi dismissed from the boardAPPLE: Wall Street in disarray after contrasting bank resultsSMCP: SMCP-Representatives of the Chinese group Shandong Ruyi dismissed from the board-Les EchosCITIGROUP INC: Citigroup-Investment bank remains strong in Q4, spending increasesAll rights reserved - Les Echos 2020
