October 3: Weather advisories and warnings in effect for Oct. 3/Weather alters Dare and Currituck school schedules/Reide Corbett discusses beach nourishment.

Due to inclement weather and possible ocean overwash, the Dare County Public Works Department has rescheduled residential trash collection for the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon from Tuesday, Oct. 4 to Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Residential collection for unincorporated areas of Roanoke Island, as well as East Lake, Manns Harbor and Stumpy Point will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

The Dare County Parks and Recreation Department has announced several cancellations and closings for Monday, Oct. 3, due to adverse weather conditions.

The Dare County Youth Center in Kill Devil Hills, the Fessenden Center in Buxton, the Virginia S. Tillett Community Center in Manteo, the Thomas A. Baum Senior Center in Kill Devil Hills and the Lions Club Center in Manteo will close at 5 p.m. today.

In addition, all gymnastics and dance classes, cheerleading, soccer and football games and practices, and adult softball games scheduled for today have also been canceled. Coaches will be notified when the Dare County Parks and Recreation Department has determined a makeup schedule.
